2026 MÁS QUE MUROS Femme Muralism Summer Camp

MÁS QUE MUROS invites students to explore their identity and culture through muralism practices and self-expression. We will explore the power of murals as a tool for personal and collective storytelling. In an effort to uplift female artists who have historically been underrepresented in muralism, this year's camp is exclusively geared towards female teens and led by local artists Andi Sapien and Lezlee Meza.

Students will engage in hands-on workshops and activities led by two local artists to conceptualize and create a collaborative mural reflecting on how our placement within the Chihuahuan Desert contributes to our cultural identity as a community while celebrating the abundance that the desert has to offer.

NOTE: First day of camp drop-off will be at the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Camp participants will ride the El Paso Streetcar with camp staff back to the Mexican American Cultural Center. Parents are welcomed to accompany their child during the fieldtrip or provide transportation between sites if preferable. (Detailed drop-off instructions will be emailed to parents once the registration packet has been received.)
